Merdeka ( Independence Day) Hike to Pantai Kerachut

Meromictic Lake with lots of algae. Could be due to low tide now.
Today is Independence Day in Malaysia, so decided to visit the Penang National Park which is on the north west part of the island. Entrance is free, and the hike from the park entrance at Teluk Bahang to Pantai Kerachut takes about 1 hr ( without stop at normal pace).  Distance is about 3.4km.

Overall there were vast improvements on the facilities and trail which were paved at the beginning.  The meromictic lake ( lake with salt water layer under the fresh water layer) looked covered with algaes. Overall great place to go for a day hike. Bring some water with you as there are no stalls at Pantai Kerachut. There were some baby turtles at the Turtle Hatchery Center  at the beach.
